APT utilizes the Viewpoints Technique as a meta-framework that has proven to be highly effective and well-structured for public speaking, debate, and argumentation training. The Viewpoints are a transformative applied theater methodology that will empower you to become more present, self-aware, confident, charismatic, and persuasive.
Applied theatre techniques have been used effectively by renowned entertainers, high-performing executives, politicians, and leaders for decades.
The Viewpoints Technique was developed by theatre artists Mary Overlie, Anne Bogart, and Tina Landau during the 1970's and 80's. Since then it has become a commonly practiced performing arts training method used by universities and professionals worldwide. The Viewpoints has six principal elements: Movement, Space, Time, Shape, Emotion and Story.
At APT we integrate the Viewpoints by teaching the process of reflection and exploration that helps you build system-wide clarity and coherence to communicate and influence effectively. This is also called “Radical Inquiry” and at APT we integrate these elements into our training, fostering clear, coherent advocacy effectiveness in both depositions and the courtroom.
Our trainers possess extensive backgrounds in the Viewpoints, applied theatre, and law, and we are expanding this groundbreaking framework to provide litigators with a highly proven and effective set of tools that can be deployed to maximum effect in any situation.
